Kaziranga National Park
Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve Assam, India
Kaziranga National Park is the home to one-horned rhinoceros. The park covers 430 sq.km and the low lands get flooded during the monsoon. In addition to the rhinos, the park has a large population of elephants, swamp-deer (Barasingha) and water buffalos.
The park also has a rich bird life and is declared an important bird area by BirdLife International. I spent five days at the park with 3 days in Kaziranga, half a day at Hollongapar to see the gibbons and another day at Burapahar, an extension of the national park.
